The girls were already at mine by half seven, kicking off their shoes and claiming the sofa like they owned it. Wine opened straight away, glasses filled higher than they should have been, and the remote claimed by Sophie before anyone else could argue. We settled into the usual pile of cushions and blankets, the telly flickering with whatever trash reality show was on that night. The commentary started gentle at first, little dry observations about the outfits and the obvious lies, but once the second bottle was empty the filters dropped completely.
It always goes that way with us. The room warms up, voices get louder, and suddenly we are deep into the stories we only tell each other. I leaned back against the arm of the sofa, bare feet tucked under me, feeling that soft glow of being completely safe with the only people who have ever seen every side of me. No judgement, just pure loyalty that has lasted years. One of them asked about the tall one from a few weeks back and the grin spread across my face before I could stop it.
I told them how the night had started ordinary enough in a packed bar, the kind of place where the music thumps through your chest and strangers lean close just to be heard. He had that quiet confidence, dark hair falling a little into his eyes, and when he smiled it felt like the rest of the room faded. We talked for a while, easy banter that somehow turned heavier with every look. By the time we reached my flat the air between us was already thick with want. The door shut and his hands were on me, steady and sure, pulling me in for a kiss that started soft and then deepened until my knees felt weak. He tasted of the last drink we had shared and something warmer underneath.
Clothes came away in slow, deliberate pieces. His mouth traced a path down my neck, lingering where my pulse beat fastest, and every brush of his lips sent little sparks racing under my skin. When he moved lower the world narrowed to the heat of his breath and the careful, knowing way he touched me. Pleasure built in long, rolling waves, starting deep in my belly and spreading outward until my fingers were tangled in his hair and soft sounds slipped from my throat without permission. He took his time, patient and focused, drawing every sensation out until the release hit so hard my whole body trembled, thighs shaking around him, breath catching in short, helpless gasps. Even after the peak he stayed close, kissing the inside of my wrist, the curve of my hip, letting the aftershocks settle while the room felt quiet and golden around us.
The girls were proper howling by the time I finished, one of them nearly spilling her wine as she demanded more details. Then the stories traded back and forth, each one a little filthier than the last, full of shared laughter and knowing looks. No one flinched, no one judged. That is the thing about this circle. Once you are in, you are in for life. We can talk about the rough nights and the soft mornings and the quiet hope that still sits underneath all of it, the wish for someone tall and dark and steady who will throw me about one minute and hold me close the next.
By the time the last bottle was empty the telly was forgotten and we were just talking in that easy, affectionate way that always leaves me feeling lighter. I walked them out just after midnight, still smiling, the flat quiet again but full of the warmth they had left behind. Nights like this remind me why I keep the circle small. Everything else can wait. The right man will come when he comes. Until then I have this, and it is more than enough.
