FAQ

Who are you?

I am Dingo. Thirty. Basildon born, Hackney based. I supervise a team at a bank in the city and I write here in the leftover hours. The stern version is work. This is closer to the girl who goes home for Sunday roast and talks too much once she trusts you.

Are you really 30?

Yes I am. If you’re reading this in the far-flung future, and I’m older. I forgot to update it, no real crime committed. I look tiny in my photos, but I’m actually 5’9, in women’s standards that’s massive, I’m mostly all legs, like some weird insect.

Is Dingo your real name?

No. It is the name I write under. My colleagues, my family, and the bloke behind me in Tesco do not need this tab open with my payroll name on it.

Is any of this true?

The voice is true. The job is true in outline. The feelings are true. Details get changed on purpose. If you are reading this like a court transcript you will have a bad time. If you are reading it like a woman telling stories the way she would after a drink, you are closer.

Why not use your real name if you are so honest?

Because honesty and self sabotage are different hobbies. I can tell you how a night felt without handing strangers a map to my desk.

Do you actually work in a bank?

Yes. I will not tell you which one, which team, or who sits next to me. If your question is really “can I pitch you at work,” the answer is no.

Are you single?

Yes. On purpose, most of the time. I like my own flat and I still hope a tall dark haired man with decent hands and a kettle habit turns up. Those two things can live together.

Can I take you out / can I have your number?

No. This is a blog, not a menu. If you used the contact form to ask for a date you have already told me enough. If I come after you though, then it’s because your very special. And there’s also more chance of Hell freezing over.

Is this a sex blog?

No. It is a personal blog that does not flinch when the story is filthy. There are diary posts, city posts, dating posts, and longer pieces that go well past fade to black. If you only want recipes, you are lost.

Why are some posts so explicit?

Because the polite version would be a lie. It’s only words. When I write those ones I am trying to put you in the body of the night, not give you a checklist. If that is not your taste, skip the tag and stay with the milder pieces.

What do the tags mean?

Diary is a short dated entry, usually 500 to 700 words, titled with two words and the date. Essays are the long ones. If something is marked sex it will be saucy on purpose. Read the start. You will know.

Do you get paid for sex work?

No. I have a bank job. Do not project a whole industry onto one woman’s dating posts. I’m not a prostitute.

Is there a paywall?

There’s nothing to paywall.

Can I share your posts?

Share the link. Do not copy the whole thing onto your page, your newsletter, or your “content board.” A short quote with a credit is fine. The rest is mine.

Can I send a guest article?

Yes, through the contact form. First person. Your own story. No outing people. No revenge brief. I edit if I take it. I can also say no and I will not write you a development memo.

Can I request a topic?

Yes. “Have you thought about writing X” is useful. “Please write my life up as if it happened to you” is not. I pick what I can stand behind.

Do you do podcasts and interviews?

Sometimes. That lives on the Work with me page. Send the show, the date, the angle, and whether there is a fee. I need evenings more than I need mystery.

Will you name and shame someone for me?

Never. If that is why you are here, leave.

How fast do you reply?

Slowly. I prefer people in person and voice notes in real life, and the blog inherits that habit. If it is a genuine work with me query I try to be quicker. If you sent a novel at midnight, sit down.

Can I comment on posts?

Yes, if you sound like a person. No outing, no slurs, no spam, no “I know who that guy is.” I do not owe every comment a reply. I will delete the nasty ones without a ceremony.

Why do you change details?

Because other people did not volunteer to be content. I can describe a suit, a bar, a feeling. I will not publish a hunt list.

Does your family know about this?

Enough. Not chapter and verse. If you found this and you sit across from me at Sunday lunch, we can be adults about it. Do not perform a scene over the gravy.

What if I think a post is about me?

Then keep it to yourself unless I have actually used your name or a private fact I had no right to use. Recognition is not the same as being exposed. If I have genuinely crossed a line, use the contact form calmly and say what.

Are you giving advice?

No. I am telling you how it felt from my seat. I am not your therapist, lawyer, doctor, or dating coach. If you need help, get help from someone qualified.

You said you are centre right. Is this a politics blog?

No. I keep that quiet on purpose. You will not get campaigns, rankings, or party rants here. If that disappoints you, there are thousands of other tabs.

Do you hate the girls on your team?

I get tired. That is not the same thing. I am strict at work because the work has to be right. I am not writing an office soap opera and I will not be pushed into one.

Can brands send products?

Yes sure, or if it is a collaboration I already agreed to.

Do you want sources and files emailed to you?

Not really. Do not send me other people’s private photos, messages, or documents. I will not host a stash I cannot defend.

Why are the posts so long?

Because I think in long. Short captions make me itch. If you want a one line take, you will hate it here. If you want to sit with a voice for a bit, that is the idea.

Will you write my girlfriend a custom filthy story?

No.

Will you meet readers?

Not as a rule. The internet is full of people who think a comment thread is an introduction. It is not.

How do I tell you something is broken on the site?

Contact form, short and clear. “The diary page is blank on my phone” is perfect. A speech about your browser history is not.

Can I translate or reprint a post?

Ask first. Do not do it and tell me after.

Do you read every email?

I read more than I answer. If you were kind and specific you have a better chance than if you were entitled and vague.

What are you actually trying to do with this site?

Tell the truth at a length that feels like company. Keep the people in my real life safe. Write the city, the roast, the nerves, and the nights I would otherwise leave in my notes app. That is the whole mission. Everything else is extra.
