The pub was nothing special, just one of those low-lit spots in Hackney where the music stays soft enough to talk and the crowd feels familiar without being too close. I had only gone in for a quick drink after work, still in that quiet space between the bank’s stern front and the softer me that waits at home. He was standing near the bar, tall enough that I noticed him first, dark hair falling a little over his forehead, the kind of quiet presence that makes you look twice. Our eyes met over the top of my glass and the smile he gave was easy, almost shy. That was enough.
We talked for a while about nothing heavy, the weather, the rubbish playlist, the way East London never quite sleeps. It felt light and sweet, the sort of easy banter that makes my cheeks warm without me meaning them to. When he offered to walk me home the decision was already made somewhere under my ribs. The night air cooled the flush on my skin as we wandered the short distance, his hand brushing mine once, then staying. Inside the flat the door closed with a soft click and the soft part began properly.
He kissed me like he had all the time in the world, slow and careful, tasting of the last drink we shared. His hands stayed gentle at first, tracing the line of my waist through my top, learning the shape of me without rushing. I felt that familiar flutter low in my stomach, the one that always arrives when someone takes the trouble to be tender. Clothes slipped away between shared breaths and quiet laughter, and for a stretch of minutes it stayed cute, almost dreamy, the kind of closeness that makes you hope the moment might last longer than it will.
Then the energy shifted. His hands grew stronger, guiding me back against the bed with a firmness that sent a bright spark through every nerve. He moved me the way I love most, turning me, lifting me, holding me exactly where the pleasure built fastest. The softness gave way to something deeper and more urgent, the kind of intensity that leaves marks of heat across the skin without ever feeling careless. His mouth found the places that made my breath catch, warm and insistent, drawing sounds from me I usually keep quiet. Every press of his body against mine sent another wave rolling through me, the kind that starts low and spreads until my fingers tighten and my thoughts scatter.
When the release came it arrived like a long, bright tide. My whole body tightened, then opened, trembling hard enough that I clung to his shoulders and let the feeling carry me. He stayed close through every aftershock, kissing me through it, deep and lingering, as if he wanted to taste the pleasure still moving under my skin. The kisses that followed were slower again, soft against my mouth, my throat, the curve of my shoulder, drawing the last little shivers out until I floated somewhere warm and weightless.
We lay tangled for a long while after, the city noise far away, his fingers tracing idle patterns along my arm. I felt that familiar sweet ache, the idealistic one that wonders whether a night this good might somehow stretch into something more. He left before the sky lightened, with a last soft kiss and a quiet smile that stayed with me. Hours later I was still drifting on the memory, body loose and happy, already smiling at the thought of telling the girls once the wine is poured. For now the floating is enough, a perfect little escape that leaves me hopeful all over again.
