Messy Night, 06/06/2026

The wine was already open when the girls piled through the door, bags of crisps and that cheap prosecco I pretend not to love. We were meant to watch something rubbish on the telly, the usual running commentary and lazy digs at the contestants, but the bottles kept emptying and the stories started spilling. By the third glass my filter was gone, the one I keep so carefully at work, and suddenly I was telling them everything about the bloke from last weekend.

He had been tall, dark hair that fell a little over his forehead, the sort of quiet confidence that makes you feel chosen the second he looks at you. We left the bar early, the night still warm, and the second the flat door shut behind us the air changed. His hands were sure, not hurried, pulling me in until the only thing I could feel was the solid heat of him against me. The kissing started soft, the kind that makes your knees go a bit weak, then deepened until I was breathless and laughing into his mouth. Clothes came off in a tangle of fingers and quiet urgency, and then we were on the bed, the city lights slipping through the curtains in soft stripes across his shoulders.

He took his time exploring me, mouth warm and deliberate, tracing paths that left little sparks under my skin. When he settled between my thighs the sensation built so steadily I could hardly keep still, waves of pleasure rolling through me in slow, delicious pulses. Every soft stroke of his tongue, every careful press of his lips, made my breath catch and my fingers tighten in his hair. I felt completely open, completely wanted, that rare sweet surrender where the rest of the world just disappears. The pleasure climbed higher, tighter, until it broke over me in a long, trembling wave that left my whole body shaking, thighs pressing around him, a soft cry escaping before I could stop it. He stayed close after, kissing the inside of my knee, then my hip, then back up to my mouth, letting the aftershocks settle while my heart still raced.

We did not stop there. He was high-energy in the best way, strong hands guiding me, turning me, holding me exactly where he wanted while still checking I was with him. The rhythm was deep and steady, the kind that makes you lose track of everything except the heat building again between you. I came a second time, harder, the pleasure sharp and bright, my body arching into his as if it already knew how to answer him. Afterward we lay tangled, his fingers tracing lazy patterns on my back, the room quiet except for our slowing breaths. He left before morning with a soft smile and my number, and I stayed in bed longer than usual, still glowing, already knowing the story would come out the next time the girls and I had drinks.

Telling them last night felt even better than living it. They leaned in, eyes wide, screaming with laughter every time I got to the good bits. One of them nearly fell off the sofa when I described the way he had looked at me right before everything peaked. We were proper howling, the kind of messy, affectionate noise that only happens with the people who know every version of you. At some point the neighbours started banging on the wall, which only made us louder for a minute before we dissolved into guilty giggles and tried (and failed) to keep it down. The bottle was empty by then, cheeks aching from smiling, and I felt that warm, loyal glow that only comes from this tiny circle of mine.

Even while we laughed I still caught myself hoping, the same quiet idealistic ache I always get after a night like that. Somewhere out there is the tall dark one who will stay for morning coffee and foot massages, who will keep me in check and still make me shake the way he did. Until then, nights like this, messy and full of shared secrets, feel pretty close to perfect.
